The John Leland Center for Theological Studies is an Association of Theological Schools-accredited Christian higher education institute located in Virginia. Under the leadership of school president Dr. Mark Olson, the institute maintains partnerships with numerous churches and denominations to offer students a cutting-edge curriculum and one of the most diverse campuses in the area.
Through its seminary and school of ministry, the institute provides undergraduate and graduate programs geared toward students of theology, Christian leadership, and divinity. The Leland School of Ministry administers undergraduate and nontraditional degree programs, such as a diploma in theological studies designed for laity and ministry candidates who hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Programs and curriculums offered by the seminary include graduate and certificate programs in theological studies, divinity, and Christian leadership.
Campus life and community programs focus on providing students with an inclusive atmosphere that fosters community involvement, active theological discussion, and networking efforts with local churches and ministry organizations. The Theological Society and Lenten Service provide an avenue for students to participate in contemplative worship sessions and engage in academic and professional discussions regarding contemporary Christian ministry issues. Students may also support local ministry organizations by attending the Leland Ministry Forums.
Since its establishment in 1998, the John Leland Center for Theological Studies continues to grow. In 2009, Dr. Olson led the implementation the of master of Christian leadership program, and in 2013, he added the graduate certificate in Christian leadership program to the seminary curriculum. In 2012 the school added Dr. Andrey Shirin, Ph. D. Princeton Seminary, to their faculty as Director of the Leadership Program.
