Executive Daniel Sheflin currently serves as vice president of technology automation control solutions with Honeywell in Golden Valley, Minnesota. He maintains responsibility for research and development for the $16 billion department and manages more than 5,000 engineers and scientists. Since taking on this position, Daniel Sheflin has reduced the cycle times for new product development by more than 50 percent and increased new product introductions three-fold.
Daniel Sheflin studied mechanical engineering and metallurgy at the University of Buffalo in New York and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He later studied control engineering and tribology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, ultimately earning a master of science in engineering.
Outside of work, Sheflin maintains an active presence in his community as a member of his local United Methodist church. He has also been a longtime supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As for recreation, he takes a special interest in fat bikes, which have larger tires to make traversing rough terrains, like snow and sand, easier. To ride his fat bike in snow, Sheflin deflates the tires to 5 psi, effectively flattening them to resemble tank treads. The deflated tires tackle the snow like a snowshoe, but much faster.
